Kind of surprised the NY Post is the culprit as while sensationalist they tend to lean right and not be into this stuff.

Completely agree this one has nothing to do with Larry nor.climate change

Wow! Those storms last night!!! We were woken up around 3am.

I got this warning on my phone at 3:50am. But my SO didn't get one and neither of us heard an alert, I just happened to wake up with the other noise around 4am and grabbed the phone to check the time. I looked at the radar and didn't see any tornado boxes.

Anyone else get this? Jay?

I am in Glastonbury and I didn't hear an alert but woke up to see that there was a tornado warning around 4am. Looking at the news this morning I am seeing that they are thinking there was a tornado in Coventry? Wild!

So you got an alert on your phone too, but with no sound? I thought the alert and sound went hand in hand.

I haven't checked news reports yet.

Actually, now I am looking at my notifications the alert was from a weather app I use (Dark Sky) and not the Emergency Alert. Coworkers of mine who live further east (Mansfield, Tolland) got the official emergency alert.

A local tv meteorologist tweeted that there were two possible tornados but I haven't seen any other info confirming that yet:

I get alerts from MyRadar but they always have the logo on them. If I click on this one it just makes it bigger on the screen and there is an option to bring me into settings (where the emergency alert notification settins are)

I wanted to get Dark Sky (I use it on the web). But I heard Apple bought it so I thought I'd wait and see if it gets integrated into the iOS.

On this day in 1954, Hurricane Edna Halts Ferrys and Floods Basements. Washed out the fill for the Tappan Zee Bridge. Over 3 inches of rain fell in a few hours.

Bridgeport got 3.50" of rain. (3.29" came in a few hours)
Hartford got 3.22" those few hours

Rainfall total for just 1 day
