Anyone know what the budget/supplies are like for the state in regards to salt??

Why havent I seen them salting for tonights light snow?? Its light enough where plows wont be needed but enough where it could get slick for the morning.

I am pretty sure CTDOT does not salt roads anymore. They pretreat them with a chemical that sticks to the road and then go over them after or during the storm to clean them up. They had pretreated for the last storm so I don't think they need to do it again so soon. They are usually pretty good about snow removal so I would not worry about it. Jay

Camb's issue seems to be with the towns, not CTDOT. My town (Prospect) uses salt and sand for the roads. I haven't been home so I can't say if they've been treating them. We had sand down this morning when I left for work.

Thanks guys.. Hmmm, doesnt CTDOT control the city streets too or are they just state roads?

Yeah, I was wondering for city streets. I saw the liquid deicer on some but lots of roads none. I used to see the trucks out and about more. They seem non existent this yr.

My cousin works for PelhamDOT and he said they are still in Fall cleanup mode and why they arent salting.

Also, the pre treat fades away, just because they did it last storm doesnt mean its effective for this one. Not 100% on that though.

Can't wait to melt my 1-2" of snow and see how much liquid it is. Probably 0.01". lol.

With 17:1 ratios 0.09" liquid would be 1.5" of snow.

I've never seen CTDOT on anything other than the two state roads (68 and 69) in town. It's my understanding that the town/city is responsible for any non-state numbered roads. However, I've seen the town plow and salt 68 and 69 on occasion.

Nice. That probably doesn't rust the cars like the junk they put down in most place. East Windsor was still using sand when I last worked there in 2014.

Cam, I didn't see anyone in my area today. You're right, it does wash away. They put it down before Saturday (we got the liquid lines AND the green granules - SOOOO lucky ), then it snowed AND rained. I wouldn't expect any of it to be on the ground anymore.

It's &@%#^(^!!! cold and dry. Hello bloody nose season.

Hands cracking much easier now. Crazy dry and cold. Feels like all of a sudden. Maybe cause its December? Last time we were this cold before December 15th was 2010.

Snowing in the D.C area now and sticking fast. Dewpoints in the low single digits in South NJ. Crazy dry
