Daily records don't impress me as much as monthly records, but more impressive is the number of days for a certain value.; with that said...

Bridgeport,CT normal amount of days in the single digits or colder in "January" is 3. They have 10 this month alone. WTF?

Its a record for February with 10 days below 10°F & 3 away from all time Jan 1982 with 12. Definitely feels unique around here. I've always said getting into the single digits is special and you have to get lucky around here....that's in mid winter... NOT February!! Feels weird!

9 days left in February, BDR having an 8th coldest winter with average of 29.0° & having the coldest month All Time with average of 20.2°

So many stats. Not sure what to post.

White Plains went to -1°

Last time White Plains, NY went below 0 was Jan 2011. B4 that was Jan 2005.
Been since 1979 that they went below 0 for month of February

5 days away your wondering about flight delays? lol Better to ask again on Sunday or Monday.

GFS doesn't phase the 2 Jet Streams, no big storm, just light snowshowers
Euro Does phase the jets and has a snowstorm Wednesday morning/Afternoon
Canadian is close but doesn't phase and has no precip

Just make sure you report in next August when your humidity is at 95 percent....for about the 4th month straight. We are fine here..don't you worry about us.

You know what is really weird?

Even though it has been tremendously colder this year, the length of the cold has gotten me used to it. I actually felt colder during the shorter cold snaps last year. I drove to Stamford this morning and actually opened the window a few times to get some fresh air. lol

I was thinking that as I walked outside this morning. Sure, it was cold out but it didn't feel unbearable, it just felt like normal winter cold, even though it was barely into the single digits. Imagine when it finally gets into the 40s and sunny. We'll be breaking out the flip flops and shorts!

As a former Florida resident, I assure you your smugness will subside after you experience a full year down there.

Here's another one:

This will almost certainly (given next week's forecast where even the highs there are supposed to be in the 20s most of the days) be the first time since 1978 that both January AND February averaged under 30° in Central Park (January "just got in" at 29.9). In 1978 just like now February will be colder than January (not as rare a feat, it happened in 2008 and 2013 for example). Before that the last time was 1968 and before that it was 1936 so it's quite rare indeed!

And BDR has a shot at tying or breaking the record for most "under 10" in a month, as they may make it tonight , Monday night, and possibly Thursday or Friday night. Which would mean almost half the month had low temperatures under 10 degrees, wow!

NOAA is saying a high of 41 for Sunday (Hartford)! I am already making plans to chisel my driveway and make it a little more navigable. The ice build up is getting ridiculous.
