Damn…….

Just when you think winter is going to end……..it nails you again!!

The 00Z GFS and 00Z Euro are both showing a potential major storm on April 8-9th, with up to 12'' of snow over most of CT, and 12-18'' over western MA, VT and NH.

Both of these models want to bring a 980mb low, right over the 40/70 benchmark, along with a 1039mb high, parked right over most of southern Quebec.

NAO and AO are both negative during this timeframe and the PNA is very positive.

This is looking to be exactly like the April 7, 1982 major snowstorm.

Yep…………don't put the coats, shovels, and winter gear away just yet. Winter is NOT done with us, even though the calendar says its spring.

Seems like a lot of times lately I'm looking at central U.S and seeing above normal temps and below normal in Northeast.

Here's the mornings temp departures on left.

Farmers must be loving it in the plains. Northeast stuck north of the fronts and inside the troughs.

You beat me to it.........

By the way, BDR finished March averaging just 33.9-deg. The record is 32.0 in 1960 so I'm not sure where this stands against that (i.e. 2nd place, 3rd, etc.?)

By the way.. It's the coldest Feb-March combo on record. First time averaging in the 20s at BDR!
Feb-March beat the 30.1° in 1978

Is this Abrupt enough? The peak warmest didn't come from the bottom coldest. So the cold drop is much more impressive.

But wait..... there's more... Hartford, Worcester, Boston, Concord, Portland, State College, Allentown, Albany, Binghamton, Syracuse!!!

Ok, How about this? Coldest start to the year (Jan,Feb,March Period) on record for many locations.

Here's just 6.

I call this an abrupt cooling.
