Thanks for that. It's so frustrating NWS does not put out graphics with all these cold and snow stats. We use NWS to "confirm" things but I'm so happy I learned to research myself. Then the issue is getting the word out. If media or NWS doesn't do it, it's ignored and not "official"

I think its VERY important to see how the warmest peak didn't come from a cold bottom. So the cold drops are more impressive than the warmest spike. It's pretty sudden.

Don't worry, I'm not using the "ice age" word. We'll only be able to call it that "after the fact" anyway.

But a lot of research and reports I seen had abrupt cooling as an interesting note & factor.

Never thought I'd hear so many people get exciting for just 2 days of 50°+ this time of year. Last week was just once. This week twice. Next week trended cooler. Can someone remind me what 50s was like with sun for few hours??

NWS Forecast tomm and Friday. Enjoy! Clouds and Rain wont have same effect Friday.

Did you guys know North Dakota hit 80s already this year? South Central Canada got into the 70s. DC as well.

Final Total:
5

4th least amount of times hitting 50°F or warmer in March. 1960, 1956, 1984 had less.

Looks like it. Starts Friday morning, front stalls near us, new storm rides up the front from the SW, rain heavy at times in afternoon. Ends Early Saturday morning. Weekend looks good but cool. Sunday better day still cool for this time of year.

Baby Steps? GFS says the warmth comes 2 days at a time.

Thursday-Friday this week.
Tuesday-Wednesday next week.
Maybe 3 days mid April?

Looks like every other day or two with moisture too.

Ok, How about this? Coldest start to the year (Jan,Feb,March Period) on record for many locations.

Here's just 6.

I call this an abrupt cooling.
And remember, last January thru March was pretty cold too........

Around 70 mid month? Am I going to be right again?

Edit: fyi..that long term you have been showing Camb has been quite accurate even to 12-14 days out...they keep getting better and better at it.

Remind us what you said and that's interesting you noted the long range stuff. I actually don't keep track or remember sometimes. LOL (I must be getting old)

Yeah, looks like the cold has been lessened (still below normal though) and maybe starting Mid April we bounced back to above? That's what its starting to look like at this point. Goodbye Vortex?
