Trend is towards a weaker storm this weekend.

SAD kicking in. Winter depression from lack of real cold and snow and soon longer daylight. Horrible winter so far.

At least it's not hot. I'll give it that.

Here ...

Hartford(BDL)December average temp right now is 34.9°. Ironically the 2nd warmest Winter of 2011-12 had that exact average.

Someone figure out how cold January and February need to be in order to get a Top 10 cold winter. Forget it.

Lol.....you would probably be happy living where my Mother in law lives in Whitefish,Montana....
Winter season lasts mid April to mid June......yes, mid June. They average 65-73 inches of snow. Absolutely beautiful place (we visit in non snow season)but that would be my purgatory living with a winter like that.

65 inches is nothing. Try moving into upstate new york in the lake effect regions where they can average up to nearly 300 inches a year.(buffalo is "only" 90 something, but other areas get absolutely hammered) Now if you go into the mountains out west....then you're talking pnw get can average 600+ inches a year, while utah's high mountains average around 500!

Anyway cam, it's only mid December in CT. This is actually quite normal! What's the average high at bdr this time of year? Mid 40s? And what's the average dec snowfall....a few inches? NW hills have had a big storm already. Quite normal.

Its definitely closer to normal.. The winter snows start mid - late December...lets face it ,anything before is not the norm..can happen for sure but we shouldn't expect it.

Watching the Euro roll out as I type right now last frame updated is Saturday 7am. That's the storm... See it down south near Gulf coast? Nice day Saturday maybe clouding up.

As I wait for the next frame to load we wonder where it will go. Will it be strong enough off the coast? OTS? Weak. Disappear? What!

What I don't like is the blues over CT here. That's just not enough cold air in place for us. Need darker blues to really have felt good for a snowstorm.

Lets see next frame...

Here it is... Sunday 7am... See it? Low in Atlantic Out to Sea way south of us and sadly a weak 1014mb low. This doesn't show precip but you can just imagine there's not much precip going on. It is cold though.

Sorry, these colors are temps at 4000' not to confuse you which relates to surface temps..
