Some interesting notes about this September from a Central Park weather blog that probably can be applied to BDR and BDL as well:

September 2014 began and ended with significantly warmer than average temperatures. Sept. 1-6 was 8.5 degrees above average while Sept. 26-30 was +7.5. Meanwhile, the days in between (Sept. 7-25) were 1.5 cooler than average. For the entire month, September was 1.7 degrees above average, with a dozen days five degrees or more above average. This was the mildest September in three years and the 35th mildest among all Septembers since records began in 1870.

This was New York's most above average month, temperature wise, since last October (which was 3.3 degrees above average) and the driest, also since last October (which had just 0.36" of rain).

Finally got some rain. Havent had it like this in a while. Robust front with a LARGE trough and fast Jet. Gusty winds west of Appalacians making it feel like 30s midday!

Here it's typical Fall weather with winds gusting to 20mph under the front, leaves dropping from the rains/wind, and average temps

Current radar & temps. You can probably see where the cool line is (Western PA) and moving East.

Im expecting low 40s tonight here so bringing in my plants.

With the pattern the way it is, the "risk" of more coastal storms increases. Sooner or later one is going to strengthen more than we've seen

I feel like this rain is overdue. I could see grass having that drought like, brown condition. Hopefully, this offsets some of that!

Trees needed this heavy rain. They don't benefit much from the light rains (needs deep watering), so this was good to get. Slow front!

The Sun is out in southern NY. (confirmed by family member) New Haven county CT about to get downpours!

Those driving on I-95 about to put the brakes on from the downpours..... then again... they probably already on the brakes. LOL

It has been pouring like crazy here in Branford. Its like a firehouse coming from the south over Long Island. Just keeps coming. Lots of minor flooding and branches coming down. People down the street lost power.

A few local weather stations on weatherunderground are showing 1+ inch an hour rains.
