Its the annoying Lakehurst Navel base obs that keeps showing up. NWS said its "within reason" I try to ignore it now. Temps are always so off.

Basically the Bermuda High that's causing the current East Coast heat pushed all those constant rain and thunderstorms we had to the west (fortunately even west of where I'm staying for the Fourth so far!). If you were in Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Detroit, and Buffalo it was a pretty lousy Fourth today.

ridiculous..in this day and age to have a site erroneously reporting is nutty.

Add high dewpoints and it's just going to be dangerous out there.

That's what NWS was saying as well, so I was hoping that would happen.

I feel bad for those places you listed (Buffalo to Cleveland), but it meant we on the East Coast had wall to wall sunshine. I hate when we don't see the sun for for than a few days. The 4th was perfect here on the coast yesterday - not a cloud in the sky, 88 F , and everyone was in the pool and at the beach almost all day

Feels like old time East Coast summer days....

8am OBS water off Atlantic City, NJ is 55°, meanwhile on Long Island Sound off New Haven, CT its 74°.

Edit: Wind is key here. Down in NJ winds are pushing the warm water away from the coast and even mixing the under layer water to the surface so colder waters are coming up where as winds arent mixing it on the sound as much.
