New Fairfield @ 48. Nearest weatherbug station to me is in Sherman and they're checking it at 44 (difference in temp seems surprising since it's just a couple of miles up the road...). Weather.com has my area under a frost advisory tonight

We took the window units out of my daughters' bedroom windows last night. The seals aren't the best (super old colonial house), so it's like have an open window in their rooms. And I did turn the heat on this morning, to take the chill out. It was 63. We'll probably take the remaining ones out this weekend.

Been a while since I remember such an early frost. Harvested all the mostly ripe berries, have to hope for the best for the green ones. No fireplace yet...but did get out the afagans.

10pm and its in the Mid 40s here.

The current mid 40s in CT, PA, & NJ is actually colder than parts of SouthEastern Canada. Mid 40s vs 50s.

The pattern is screaming for attention. We might be in for a cold October.

10-15 below normal from North Carolina to Maine. 30s made it to parts of northern Virginia.

Colder in Danbury, CT (456') than Mt Washington right now (6266')

New Haven is under 45 at this hr...and NWS Bridgeport is at 46 F. I fell to 43.8 F....coldest this fall.

Looks like the nights get milder though in the coming days. Tonight should be 10 F warmer and by weekend lows should struggle to go below 60 F in several spots:

I think your fine...and temps above 80 F would be short lived by late September (in most cases) and who would really turn the AC on for temps in the 70's F .

One note that might help you save some money this time of year (late September to late October/early November).... is to buy a small space heater. They are less than $30. On mornings like this, you can take the chill out without having to use the oil/furnace. Thy type of house does make a difference though, my house is newer (1977) energy efficient house with thermal windows and good insulation. Still, the small space heaters are great for taking that morning chill out.

I do this from late September to early November and never turn on the furnace on (it has been off since April 20th). It adds less than $20 to my power bill. So you might want to give it a try.
