Well.... that was fun while it lasted... NON EVENT FRIDAY.

All models agree except JMA that there's no phase and that the bulks of precip stays south of us and then east in Atlantic.

Expect at least 1-3". A shift 50 miles north or west and those totals go up.

But the consensus is not a big event right now. We went from 6-12". to 1-3".

Notice the JMA is the only one with a big snowstorm.

Ironically in Accuweather's writeup accompanying this graphic they note that from NYC on north it may not be much of an event at all.....

OT: but saw some snow flurries on route 6 right around the RI/CT border last night coming home from Providence. And yes indeed I took route 6 home from Providence last night.

Also Cam, whats it looking like for Friday?? Made plans with someone for dinner Friday night, and Saturday have a huge game against Southern Maine, a team that is currently undefeated and ranked in the top 15, on Saturday in Danbury that I really don't feel like watching on the computer.

Bring a scarf and an ice scraper. I dont think you'll need a shovel or plow. If trends change I'll let you know but consider Friday a normal day with light snow falling at times.

Frigid is the word of the week. Another 3 days of this. Then back to 30s.

Upton Alert:

309 PM EST WED JAN 23 2013
COLD SNAP WILL CONTINUE THROUGH AT LEAST FRIDAY...

THE CURRENT STRETCH OF COLD WEATHER...WITH TEMPERATURES 10 TO 15 DEGREES BELOW MID WINTER AVERAGES...WILL CONTINUE INTO AT LEAST FRIDAY AS AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE PASSING THROUGH TONIGHT BRINGS A REINFORCING SHOT OF ARCTIC AIR. LOWS BOTH TONIGHT AND THURSDAY NIGHT SHOULD FALL INTO THE SINGLE DIGITS. ISOLATED SPOTS IN THE VALLEYS WELL NORTH AND WEST OF NEW YORK CITY AND POSSIBLY ALSO THE LONG ISLAND PINE BARRENS REGION...COULD SEE TEMPERATURES AROUND ZERO.

AS WINDS DIMINISH TONIGHT...BELOW ZERO WIND CHILLS ARE NOT EXPECTED. HOWEVER...AS NORTHWEST WINDS INCREASE TO 10 TO 20 MPH...WIND CHILLS SHOULD DROP TO ZERO TO 10 BELOW ZERO FROM JUST BEFORE DAYBREAK TO AROUND MIDDAY ON THURSDAY. SIMILAR WIND CHILLS SHOULD OCCUR THURSDAY NIGHT.

ARCTIC AIR WILL REMAIN IN PLACE FRIDAY INTO FRIDAY NIGHT AS LOW PRESSURE PASSES OFF TO THE SOUTHEAST AND BRINGS SOME LIGHT SNOW.

SLOW MODERATION IN TEMPERATURES AND WIND CHILLS SHOULD THEN BEGIN OVER THE WEEKEND INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK IN THE WAKE OF THIS SYSTEM.

HPC Map for Friday. Don't let the "snow" fool you. We can handle 1-3".

Believe it or not, NYC/Atlantic City might get more than us. Bridgeport more than Hartford. Meaning 3" for Bridgeport, 2 inch for Hartford. Or less.

Unless things change overnight, thats my thinking

The peak would be after 7pm but dont think and be done by morning. Light fluffy snow.
