OKX during storms usually has a link showing both official and spotter snow totals around the area (which for CT is basically the entire coast out to New London), they had it last night for reports up to 8pm but for some weird reason they don't have up a link to a "final" report...

So based on the "daily climate reports", this is what I got:

Central Park - 1.5" (interesting given their tendency to show "only a trace" when all the other nearby stations show slight measurables......the 3 airport stations all showed under 1").

Hartford/Bradley - 0.2" (but I'm not sure if it was snowing there after midnight so it may end up a teeny bit more in the end)

Sikorsky/Bridgeport - Shows it as "missing" (the 8pm reports showed a T and the only CT spotter report at the time was 0.5" at Redding)......I assume they will fix that when they do the next daily climate report at 5pm today.

Boston - 0.1" (but it was still snowing at midnight, this and the below 2 are based on the midnight climate report)

Providence - 0.3"

Worcester - 0.5"

BOX has an updated report, but only seems to show locations that got 1" or more, which seems to only be on the Cape and Martha's Vineyard, no CT or Boston area reports:

Wait, I found a "backdoor" way into OKX's update report. Looks like all the CT snow in it's area was in Fairfield County (none/traces in New London area? Or just no spotter reports?) and 0.5" for all (including Sikorsky/Bridgeport, which BTW actually puts it over 20" for the season and just a few inches from it's "norm for an entire season").

BTW, Monday is looking light but a real mess with the sleet and ice.....

Yeah, generally a 1/2" to 1.5" totals from Virginia to CT with up to 3" in localized spots (not CT).

Monday is another "light" event with less than 1/4" precip. Should start as all snow, change to ice then change to rain by the coast but may stay as ice interior.

Don't forget... you can see the precip type by the NAM and GFS here. NCEP Model Time-Series (BUFR) Forecast Hourly Weather Data

You can change locations and models on the left hand side scroll down.

Lets hope the salt trucks load up the roads "before" hand. Monday is gonna be slick from PA to MA

OKX updated (and linked) some final spotter reports.....includes some 1/4 - 1/2" amount from Milford to New London and looks like far southwest Fairfield County had some reports of 1 - 1.5"

Default Ice Event

Ok, lets talk weather. Give me a few minutes to post whats happening Monday..

First... Here's a good picture to help understand how freezing rain happens. Pretty simple... Snow comes down from the clouds, warm air moves in from the south but warms up a layer above us first to above freezing, so a layer of warm air melts the snow to rain, while a small layer at the surface is still below freezing so the rain turns to ice. If the layer at the surface is thick enough it ends up being sleet instead.

Default Ice Event

Here's the sounding for Hartford, CT. This shows the temp and moisture in the atmosphere.

4 frames, 8 seconds each. This WILL NOT be a power outage situation but it will make a mess on the roads for Monday evening commute. Could be hours of ice but its light amounts. Thinking sleet/ice anywhere between afternoon and evening before changing to all rain.

BOX graphic on the "snow amounts", but it doesn't show whether all those "<1 inch" and the few "none" places (i.e. the Cape) are going to have ice or how much. The OKX description of the forecast looks pretty nasty (here's a line in their description, "THE NORTHERN HALF OF THE CT COUNTIES COULD EXPERIENCE FREEZING RAIN THROUGH MOST OF THE DAY TRANSITIONING TO A RAIN/ICE PELLET MIX BY EVENING AND EVENTUALLY ALL RAIN".), though they're now showing 60 (yes, SIXTY!) on Wednesday!
