What college did you choose? My niece is at Carolina and loves it.

I graduated from USC in 1991 and had a blast there. I stayed local and had a very good career in Myrtle Beach until the recession hit us a couple of years ago.

Both of my stepdaughters graduated from USC. One is a northeast regional manager with Nordstrom at 27 and the recent graduate works for a green company in Midtown Manhattan.

The oldest has been with Nordstrom since she was 19 and the youngest was competing with Wharton and Brown graduates for her position.

What the youngest did was not try and be a Wharton or Brown graduate but to embrace being different. While they were all waiting in the conference to be interviewed, she cleaned up the conference room.

She got the job.

My point is that having a different degree than everyone else sometimes helps.

My father was OSU 1955 so both schools are in my family.

A $13 million plaza with shade trees and other heavy landscaping and will be built adjacent to Williams-Brice Stadium in place of the old ETV Radio building. That's in addition to the plaza that will be built on the corner of Bluff Road and George Rogers Boulevard.

The school that I teach at up here in Greenville has a bad history with USC grads from both their undergrad and graduate programs. 3 of our last few USC hires in the last 4 years we've terminated due to conduct unbecoming of a professional. Wish USC would teach their under and grad students some professionalism.

It sounds like a rash of bad luck at the school you teach at up there in Greenville. Maybe there's a problem within the recruiting, interviewing and hiring process. Don't give up on us.

i have zero ties to USC, nor do i know anything of which happened in Greenville, but in general: do kids really need to be taught to be professional when they get their degree? Frankly if by the time they graduate, they dont know that a full time career means time to act like a grown up and there are consequences to making a bad decision, that's not on any University's shoulders. I'd say that just goes to how they were raised to that point; after all it should be a college's position to educate and train in a given field and not be a babysitter. If a teen has no common sense or idea on right vs wrong, I doubt taking "Act like a professional 101" will make a difference.
