Yesterday I took a walk from my place to Old Colorado City and it's a nice walk and a beautiful day for it. I went to Thunder and Buttons II and sat in the outdoor sidewalk seating as it was perfect weather for it! I had a couple of beers and ate some linner and had their Beef Medallions, mashed potatoes with gravy and veggies. It was good and filling. I met some nice people who also opted to sit in the sidewalk seating and it was a pleasant experience. There's some great people watching there too!
Ah that makes sense - you're just close enough that the shorter mountains in front are obscuring it. I haven't been to the new Thunder and Buttons but the old was a classic in its time.

otowi, my place is 5-6 miles away from those Front Range mountains. I'm also close to the Garden of the Gods and drive by that area often, such magnificent scenery!

Thunder and Buttons II is a nice place. I did step inside to let the server know that I was sitting outside and it's a nice atmosphere inside. At the time, the outside temperature was in the mid 70s and the outdoor tables on the shady side of the Avenue, so it was perfect for sitting out! I read that the original Thunder and Buttons burnt down in a fire. Did they rebuild on that site or relocate?

Just thought I'd put this out here. A friend of mine is in the Blue Grass band, Red Mountain Boys, and they're playing at the Front Range BBQ, 2330 W Colorado Ave in Old Colorado City and they're performing from 7-10pm. I'll be there and I invite my city-data.com/forum/colorado-springs friends to join me for an evening of great blue grass music and BBQ! It will be a good time!

I wanted to share that I had a good time at Front Range BBQ listening to the Red Mountain Boys on Saturday evening, they played and sang some great bluegrass music and put on a good show! Some friends who are visiting from Germany joined me and they loved listening to this good old American music!

This past Tuesday (10/1) after a visit to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo (beautiful place at the base of the mountains and those mansions close by are something else) with friends from Germany, they wanted burgers, so I took them to Cy's Drive In on W. Uintah. I love these old, vintage burger and hot dog joints and this was also my first time eating at Cy's and it didn't disappoint! I got the bacon cheeseburger and fries and it was charbroiled and excellent! One of my friends ordered the tator tots and I tried some and they were great! Love this place and I will be back!

I visited with friends in Windsor and we took a road trip to Estes Park and Bear Lake and it was a beautiful day to do it. The drive through the Big Thompson Canyon is spectacular! I've driven this before when I lived in Denver in the early 80s, but had forgotten how beautiful these places are! We stopped at the Stanley Hotel and walked around the grounds and into the public part of the hotel, beautiful lobby with the Stanley Steamer and that awesome front porch was a popular place in the 70 degree weather! We drove into the town of Estes Park and walked along the river walk. It's real nice there with some good bars and restaurants. The winds picked up when we were at Bear Lake and it got chilly, a reminder that it's Fall and Winter is not far off. We then drove back to Windsor and tipped a few beers at the High Hops Brewery. It was a great day!
