I will be leaving my job which is a good salary and starting at a lower salary..so I need all the extra cash I have....

I am moving by myself and my young son to my sister's...
How do you start over...with a new job and new school for the kids aith a limited income...please advise

Default Your move from Phila.......

If you’re moving your self U-Haul is the cheapest way. When we moved here 3years ago we used Allied Van Lines and it cost us $3200. Oh course I didn’t have to lift a finger in the move.

Sounds like at least you have your sister’s place to throw you hat until you get on your feet. To prepare your self, The Gazette (newspaper) has a good job classified that you can look for jobs online. That’s what I did before we moved here. Go to Gazette.com: Home

School for you child is like anywhere, just make sure you pick a good district.

Default Penske!!

We just moved out here a month ago from Gainesville, Florida. We ended up renting a 26 ft truck plus car carrier. Penske allowed unlimited miles and was over $1,000 cheaper than U-haul. Budget was close to Penske, about $200 more, but had limited miles. Goodluck!!

How much did your Penske truck cost?

I did some pricing about a week ago (one-way Sanford, FL-Colorado Springs)

Uhaul (24') $1750
Penske (26') $1331
Budget (24') $1290

car carriers were all $330-350 extra

Go to the national forum and Use our Search tool with keyword Uhaul or Ryder or Penske, and you'll find more info. Most rental trucks we see broken down on the highway are Uhaul, others have agreed with that observation.
