I think the area is perfect for a tire store. The Convention Center (much like the airport) was built in the wrong place. It is a wholly commercial area filled with fast food, cheap retail, auto dealerships, gas stations and mattress stores. That is just the part of town that has those types of businesses in it. They have to go somewhere and that's actually a good place for them.

Interesting. I guess I thought Greenville had/would have more than 2,000 rooms available. I think there is certainly room for more.

New grocery store will replace Grifton Piggly Wiggly lost to Matthew

After losing their only grocery store in Grifton after Hurricane Matthew, Tropicana Supermarket will take over the former Piggly Wiggly location.

I've been wondering this as well. Already saw the renderings so I thought there would be movement by now.

Maaco being built on Greenville Blvd in between Outback and speedway gas station. I think it's where the old Matzatlan Restaurant used to be. Just passed it today and saw a Maaco coming soon banner up.

ECU is very good at acquisition, not very good with expediting construction.

They own about 25% of downtown but haven't built anything. My guess is that they are waiting until the new Student Center parking facility is complete before they will do anything downtown because of taking away any parking. I believe the hotel project and project across Reade St from it were supposed to be on the drawing board. And the renovation of the old Attic building, which I guess is sitting vacant (not sure who owns it).

Heard a rumor today that BB&T might be closing the branch downtown and selling the land.
