If I'm running a place like that, there'd be a flat fee for a movie and a basic meal, including a beverage. There'd be extra charges if you wanted more than a basic. And if you didn't want a meal, then too bad for you.

Fair enough, that is a bit lame.

No worries. I have stayed away from that place. I think it's still a great concept and would work in a lot of places.

Agreed. The wait staff still works for tips and if you're just taking up a table that could be occupied by paying customers.

He'd better not go to a comedy club in New York City. 2 drink minimum. And the drinks ain't cheap.

This has nothing to do with the news about the downtown developments.... But I am wondering what some of you think about the idea of a Cinema Grill (Cinema Cafe, Cinema Restaurant, etc) coming to Greenville? I've had the idea in the back of my mind for a while now. I had thought about putting it in the shopping center where the DMV is (off South Memorial). The only thing... the screens and curtains, etc. have been taken down inside that old Carmike Theater.

Would something like that do well in town? Does Greenville have the market for that?
I'd wait a decade or two. Most likely the place would be swamped for the first month and then clear out like it has a SARS epidemic.

I used to go to the cheap theater back in high school ("let's go see Independence Day for the fifth time at the buck-fifty!"). But it was located in a middle-class+ suburban area. You might get a proliferation of riff-raff if you opened a similar place here, uncertain. Would I go there as opposed to picking up a Redbox blu-ray? Maybe. I'm certainly in no rush to pay $10+ (plus babysitting) for first-run stuff like I used to.

I've enjoyed reading your responses to my post earlier. Thanks for responding to the Cinema Grill idea!

I noticed the motel 6 on greenville blvd. is now a Rodeway Inn. I researched Rodeway Inn and i dont think motel 6 affiliated with this company.
