The wreck of a building on the corner of Clark and Dickinson appears to be in demolition (I hope!). There have been men working in there the last few days.

US Bankruptcy Court progress (The Cupola Building should still be highly viewable while driving south on Reade!):

I noticed the groundwork has begun on Arlington, near the CVS at Firetower, for the erection of the new ABC store.

And completely for my info: Was the pirate statue at the entrance of the Mellow Mushroom a creation of the local metal artist on Dickinson? While similar to the downtown works, it looks more manufactured and polished.

soooooooooo excited about all the uptown redevelopment. I'm dying for a nice pleasant down er uptown to be able to visit. My favorite part about visiting other cities is visiting the downtown area where you can just park & walk all around. 2-3 years from now the uptown area will really me on the move.

There has been so much talk about redevelopment but Allen Thomas is getting it done. If Greenville doesn't reelect him it will be horrible. If only we could get rid of some of the council members. 8-10 years from now uptown will be the hip place to go in Greenville & will give the city an identity.

From this article below , it appears the statue was made in Thailand.

I just created another post, but the Census updated their statistical areas and the Greenville MSA no longer includes Greene County. But we now form the Greenville-Washington CSA, which combines our MSA with Washington uSA.

I'm glad to see someone with a backbone is finally going to start the trend of getting rid of those bars. The bars and the riff-raff associated with them has held downtown hostage long enough. It is out of control to the point where they are having to close 5th St just to keep the bad guys from doing drive-bys and the drunks from getting run over. And I would appreciate it if the Marine Corp commander would tell his guys to stay out of Greenville. Let them terrorize Jacksonville instead. Keep them at home.

Wish they could bulldoze that whole block along with it.

I think eventually everything currently on Clark St will come down. After they demolish the north end as part of the transportation center, there won't be much left anyway.
