It has a lot to do with all those New Jerseyans claiming superiority of their quiet, clean neighborhoods over always congested boros while they insist of taking their cars to New York and add to congestion about which they like to complain so much. Not too mention the fact that big parts of North Jersey are not nice, clean and quiet at all.

Yes, by living and working in New York we support arts yet New Jersey does not have such aspirations. New Jersey residents would not carry such a burden, after all it is so much easier to build a huge IMAX or another shopping mall. You know what, come over and spend you money, we need that but never ever claim you have anything in common with New York City, anything more than any other visitor from Nebrasca or Texas who is gawking at New York City without understanding what it takes to build such a great city, such a cultural giant like New York City. I hope they raise tolls on bridges and tunnels to $20 so you would leave your cars in your nice quiet neighborhoods instead of polluting the city with congestion and emissions and then complaining about just that pointing out how clean and quiet your own neighborhoods are in comparison, how "convenient" they are...
Build your own city.

You say "build your own city"

but yet the Port Authority of NY/NJ (you know...that BI-STATE AGENCY) are the developers of the tallest buildings NYC ever had: WTC. (I'm sure you've heard of that building complex in Lower Manhattan.) My goodness, what you don't know could fill a stadium.

You do realize that those 'tolls' you speak of have a lot to do with the PortAuth NY/NJ? (no, of course you don't realize that)

check this link and EDUCATE yourself:

Tolls - Bridges &amp Tunnels - The Port Authority of NY & NJ

You talk of ignorance, but yet there's so many things you don't know about your own city it's unbelievable.

NJ's ports keep NYC humming (another PortAuth operated asset). NJ is responsible for nearly all major port traffic in the metro.

I also hope the tolls on the bridges and tunnels to New Jersey will go up. It's hard to live with congestion in the city when so many suburban commuters insist on taking their cars to the city... What would you say if fifty thousand cars drove through your cul-de-sac every day?

This thread is about the outer boroughs. You are complaining about Manhattan traffic.

Can we at least keep the obnoxious, provincial, false sense of superiority on topic.

Why false? The entire North Jersey depends on New York with jobs, entertainment, sports and cullture. What would North Jersey be without New York? You want to compare New Jersey to the boros of New York forgetting that you are totaly and absolutely dependent on it. Even the companies relocating to New Jersey do so because of proximity to the city. You complain about gritty, dirty boros but without them New Jersey would be nothing. Do you know how Hoboken looked about 20 years ago? Do you know why it was revitalized? If anything you should be thankful for your BMWs and cul-de-sacs...

A city of over 8 million and you expect to not have traffic? Traffic isn't a NY thing, it's an American-city thing. Welcome to the United States.

You know what empty streets are a sign of? A lifeless city.

PS: Bumping tolls to NJ won't alleviate traffic coming from points east and north.

Oh so correct me if I'm wrong, NYC doesn't need NJ's ports (largest on east coast)? It doesn't need NJ's manufacturing/industrial capacities? Where would NYC be w/o NJ I ask? According to your logic, NYC should be thanking NJ for the use of its ports, and supporting Manhattan's financial districts i.e. WTC.

And an FYI, companies in NJ like Prudential, J&J (and the ocean of pharm companies) are huge companies that started in NJ before Manhattan became what it is.

We like your finances, you like our industries. Plain and simple.

And let's be realistic....it's not the 'other four' boroughs we like. It's Manhattan. 90% of NYC's strengths are in Manhattan.

Again, you are talking about Manhattan. It is the central point of the region. I don't think anyone is disputing that fact. However, I know very, very, very few people in NJ who work in the outer boroughs.
If you would read some of the back pages before jumping into the conversation, you would know why this thread was created in the first place.
You are letting your blind provincialism get in the way of comprehension & a firm grasp of the conversation at hand.
