Los Angeles is at 332 through 11/5.

That's 4 less than this time last year but 39 more than the same period in 2020. It's also 74 more than the entire year of 2019. Basically LA murders spiked during the pandemic and have stayed about the same.

Philadelphia is at 459, down 5% from last year at this time. Hopefully the slow trend down continues.

Homicides, of the real sort have been a VERY small part of the (now 30years old? 40?) rise in death numbers.
Such a small part that it warrants being separated from those as 'effects of violent drug business'. Ya know?
Doing so might be just enough to compel the lawmakers to actually sort out the unwinnable 'drug war at root.

Now up to 65 for Pittsburgh after a stabbing homicide this morning in our Mt. Washington neighborhood.
