51 homicides in 2021. I am not sure what the total was as of this time last year, but I can check with my colleague later today.

Toledo is at 59 through 11/13.

The city is coming off two consecutive years of record-breaking numbers with 57 in 2020 and 70 in 2021.

Given the violence these past few years in OH and PA (possibly also for WV, but we never see stats for there on here) I wonder if it is correlated to how harshly-impacted these states have been by the opioid epidemic? I know Pittsburgh's homeless population has exploded, and I blame opioids for that.

Well that pretty answers my question that it is up from last year, especially now that it's well above the total. I was just curious as to what other cities are up from last year besides Atlanta and Milwaukee. Not sure about Seattle. It seems like good news from most cities as they are down from last year.

I am happy to see most cities are improving from last year despite my own city aiming high (pun intended) to hit a new recent historical record tally.
