Seattle's 54th murder was a targeted school shooting at a high school in North Seattle. Apparently a 14-year old and a 17-year old got into a fight and the 14-year old ended up shooting and killing the other student.

Something wrong with these teens across the country these days.

Make that 64 and possibly higher soon. I think our recent historical record was 72 back in 2014. Looks like we will break that.

Chicago- 599

4 killed on Thursday. Now that the city is pushing 600 murders before mid-November, there is no way the year will end with around 650-660 like I previously estimated. It most likely will end very close to 700. Still a double-digit drop from last year, when there were over 700 this time last year.

Homicides usually have a summer bump in NYC and then start trailing off as it gets colder. Does Chicago not have the same trend?
