So among the black communities of Minneapolis and Baltimore you are almost equally as likely to become a murder victim is yoi are black.. it seems Baltimore has about the same homicide rate within the black community as Minneapolis but it is considered far worse. I'm just wondering if it's misleading for us to assume that. Chicago had hundreds of homicides but very few are white. For a black person is Baltimore or chicago are they really anymore dangerous than Minneapolis or Portland etc?.
Black individuals could make up 95% of murder victims in both City A and city B but,the comparisons would end there if the murder rate in City A was 80 per 100k, and the murder rate in City B was 20 per 100k.

Black murder victims compared to black population is a black murder rate, and the Violence Policy Center continues to publish the report without a clue that it's misleading. How ?

1. Black individuals made up higher percentage of murder victims in 24 states compared to Nebraska (44%)in 2011 and each of those states also had a higher murder rate than Nebraska (3.7 per 100k), which in 2011, had the highest black murder rate (34.4 per 100k) among U.S. states.

2. The murder rate was more than 6 times higher in Louisiana (12.6 per 100k) compared to North Dakota (2.0 per 100k) in 2006, during which black individuals made up a more than 5 times higher percentage of murder victims in Louisiana (75%) than in North Dakota,(2.0 per 100k) yet the black murder rate was 3 points higher in North Dakota (31.2 per 100k) than in Louisiana (28.2 per 100k) in 2006.

Miami (city proper) with... 31 or 32, after a detective was shot in the head by a criminal he was chasing. The crime map did not add this, but it counts as a homicide.

The county has 55 homicides from Feb 21 to August 19, with the city of Miami having 29 (but more closer to 32-33 if I had to guess). So a total of 84 with the given range, roughly ~90-100 since Jan 1st is my guestimate.

The black murder rate per capita is higher in nearly every northern state with a sizable black population than in any southern state. If the racial composition of Wisconsin, for instance, were that of Louisiana, and vice versa, but the murder rates of the various groups remained the same, Louisiana would have one of the lowest homicide rates in the country and Wisconsin's would be the highest by a country mile.
