And that's now 19 for Montreal. Shootings have sadly become the daily norm it seems. I think that's 6 homicides in the past two weeks, which is something we never see here.

Looks like Philadelphia, Houston, and Atlanta have all surpassed their current 2021 homicide and shooting counts, which were either records or the highest in decades.

How is DC? I feel like it's in a similar boat?

DC 132 same last year 118.
Prince george's county heating up too at 62.

Even though this is like nothing compared to US cities, yeah for Montreal this is pretty bad Curious how many of the shootings were targeted (e.g., gang-related) vs random?

So majority are gang related, but last week there were 3 homicides within 24H (2 in MTL/ 1 in Laval) all random and the dude who did it was killed by the police. He was released from a mental institution last year even though he was deemed a harm to society, built a gun with ordering parts and just targeted people (all men) at random.
