Pittsburgh now at 45 after last night's homicide in our troubled Lincoln-Lemington-Belmar neighborhood. Coincidentally this is also the mayor's neighborhood.
I meant to include this in that post. This is the 225th day of the year. Absolutely ridiculous that a city that size averages one every day for so long
And now up to 227 with 2 more on late Saturday/early Sunday.
A man was shot and killed last night in Newport News in front of some apartments off Jefferson Ave. Brings them to 16 for the year and finally tied with Hampton.
And now up to 227 with 2 more on late Saturday/early Sunday.
Today (8/15) is the 227th day of the year...
And it's unfortunate that most of these homicides are among the black communities. Minneapolis for instance has approximately 85,000 blacks and Baltimore approximately 350,000. Almost all black victims in both cities. Minneapolis 60 homicides almost all black timed times 4 is 240 and minneapolis black population times 4 is 340,000. So among the black communities of Minneapolis and Baltimore you are almost equally as likely to become a murder victim is yoi are black.. it seems Baltimore has about the same homicide rate within the black community as Minneapolis but it is considered far worse. I'm just wondering if it's misleading for us to assume that. Chicago had hundreds of homicides but very few are white. For a black person is Baltimore or chicago are they really anymore dangerous than Minneapolis or Portland etc?.
