Yeah, I don't include police involved shootings though since those reports are rarely released to the public.

I Use these two for Houston.

^ this link lists homicides and traffic fatalities so I use the site below to see if I can find out if it's a homicide or traffic fatality.

Houston Police Department - News Releases

The city also releases monthly data sheets, but those seem to take time to release.

dc and pgc together have 34 so far.
Prince George's County Homicides in 2011 (http://www.myfoxdc.com/generic/news/prince-georges-county-homicides-in-2011 - broken link)

here's a map of all the murders in pgc from 05-10. dc basically just spills over into pgc.
