I looked at the segregation census for downstate cities and all of them have less segregation than Chicago. Rockford included being less segregated too

You would expect the largest city in the state and the only world class city in the Midwest would be a poster child for a fairly integrated Midwestern city.

EXCUSE ME?

How do you know what race I am? I am appalled you would speak to a woman that way also. Who cares if you are white?

I would say that Minneapolis and (maybe, kinda used to be) Detroit, Cleveland and a squeeze would be Milwaukee are all world class cities. They still attract citizens from around the world. Don't know how it's going in Detroit lately...

Well Chicago is the only Midwestern city considered in the 10+ Alpha World Class scale. Detroit been on a depression for a while now, so its not there. Minneapolis is ahead of Chicago in integration.

Here is a site to measure segregation by city
CensusScope -- Racial Segregation Statistics for Cities and Metropolitan Areas

Thanks. I do like Minneapolis for it's relative calm and peace. I just considered them similar to Chicago because they both have significant industry. They are also cities with at least 1M people. It was just a thought, great link
