One of the greatest has gone to be with his Lord. Tell Don Knotts I said "hey".

How sad I never watched the show, but I know he was an icon.

And (((Don Knotts))) I'll always remember him as Mr. Furley. LOL

That makes me really sad, the Andy Griffith show still comes on here everyday at 12:30. It's a timeless classic and so much talent came out of that show....Andy was from my home state of NC and there will probably be a lot of coverage about his life and death. R.I.P. Andy.

The Andy Griffith Show is one of the great TV shows of all time. When it finally signed off for good in prime time, the show didn't miss a lick. It stayed in syndication for 43 years. How many other shows can make that claim? Can't think of any others, might be a few.Few of the cast from its earlier years are left now; Ronnie Howard (Opie), Betty Lynn (Thelma Lou), Aneta Corsaut (Helen), Jim Nabors (Gomer).

Really, really sad. I'm sure the residents of Pilot Mountain (known as Mount Pilot in the series)/Mt. Airy area of North Carolina hate hearing this news - Floyd's Barber Shop, Snappy Lunch Restaurant, etc. Andy's friendship with the University of North Carolina system was something special, and they have lost a great friend.
