We arguably have the most restrictions and mandates of any state though. That’s what you were arguing, not how “blue” a state is. Again with the irony of you complaining about others making the pandemic political; pot meet kettle.

We probably need more to keep the numbers comparably lower. In some of states in New England the demographics are much different and most people will do the right thing on their own.

Only one state in New England has a lower death rate. Try again…..

I realize this was in response to something else, but the volume of cases don't matter as much now as they did prior to widespread vaccination. The entire state would be locked down and well into 'purple' tier according to the old standard. As a matter of policy, we're ignoring all that simply because we can. Raw case numbers have far less meaning because covid19 has become much more survivable.

Smallpox. Polio is too for the most part. Perhaps sars 2003 and mers since they aren't really a thing anymore. It's not beyond the realm of possibility that covid19 will slip into obsolescence.

Apparently the virus has a harder time latching onto cells of dyed-in-the-wool liberals. I'm glad I wasn't the only one trying to decipher the relevance of "blue state" somehow being an equation factor.

In California and most other places within the next decade, it's close to fantasy. It looks like coronaviruses are tremendously durable if they make it out of the beta phase. Hawaii and Guam are the parts of the United States I rank as most likely to throttle COVID-19 within the next 5-20 years.

Case rates are similar PER CAPITA. Total population size is irrelevant.

Honestly, you accuse the right of making this political but reading your posts, you are also trying really hard to make this political.

1) Smallpox doesn’t mutate at a high rate.
2) People were more open to the smallpox vaccine.

Respiratory viruses that mutate are never through with us, we learn to live with them.
