Will Chase Elliot get an exemption to challenge for the Championship 16 like Kyle Busch did?

The difference is that Kyle broke his leg while driving an Xfinity car.

The racing wasn't too bad, either. What puzzled me, however, is the gamble that the Truex team took, by staying on track at the last caution, when the cars in front of him pitted for tires. I understand that by doing so, he inherited the lead, but it seemed to me that there were also several other lead lap cars that stayed on track, therefore they should have been directly behind Truex, when racing resumed.

That would have given Truex a "cushion" between himself and the other front runners that took tires, and probably would have given him the win. I'm assuming that was their strategy. But when the race resumed, the cars that were the top 4, prior to the caution, were lined up right behind Truex. How'd that happen??
From the way I understood , Truex was the only lead lap car that stayed out the other cars wer lap cars.

Team Truex was likely hoping a few lead lap cars would stay out.

I recorded the race and fast-forwarded through it. Thank god I didn't watch it live. Painful. Whatever they did last year to make the new chassis look halfways decent on those cookie cutter 1.5 mile tracks didn't last. IndyCar race was 1000x more interesting.

Indy was a wreck fest. Lucky someone didn’t get seriously hurt.

Racing at LV wasn’t bad, but Danica must go.

Can't imagine they wouldn't give him a medical exemption. They want to encourage people who sit out a race due to injury, not dissuade them.

Of course, he still has to win a race.. Which.. Shouldn't be a stretch for him.

Not sure I understand thsi medical exemption. Does a driver have to enter all races to be eligible for the playoffs?

Unless they get an exemption, yes.

I haven't particularly seen where they've declined a waiver.. They even did it for Taylor Gray this year in trucks, because he doesn't turn 18 until the 25th and will miss the first 3 races due to this.

OK, if that's the case, then yeah, I understand.....and would have to say that it wasn't that good a gamble, but then he was taking a chance to take the lead, and win, vs. losing what, one position over where he was when the yellow was thrown....
