...I need to check this. Pretty sure those tracks, specifically Riverside, were around far longer than that.
Riverside - 1959 to 1989
Ontario - 1968 to 1980
I've give it that you were CLOSE on Ontario. Certainly not on riverside.
Neither track, best I can recall, closed due to attendance. They closed because of.. Land values more than anything. The land was worth more as homes/businesses than it was as a track.
For Ontario..
Just for the sake of clarity, I did not imply that Riverside was in operation for only a handful of years. I knew that track had been in operation for a long time.....but nonetheless, was closed, the point being that oval track racing, at least on the NASCAR Cup scale, doesn't have that strong a fan base.

Fair enough, because I also forgot that Ontario was an oval. Or.. a "Complex". I just remember the road course that F1 ran on
But.. End of the day.. When property values rise 2000% in 10 years.. It doesn't matter what your attendance is.

True. It's really ironic, as California was once perceived as the "car culture capitol of the world", given the year round good weather, and the Beach Boys' numerous car oriented songs. But from what I gathered, as a young man, reading all of the "car magazines", California also tied itself up in all sorts of regulations and zoning laws, that while allowing the construction, initially, of motorsports facilities, they also limited the use of those facilities. The limited use, combined with the exponential increase in land values, as you mentioned, caused the demise of many race tracks.....
Saturdays is where NASCAR still actually has racing. Good xfinity race today. JRM 123 finish. Good to see Trevor Bayne with a good finish ... even if it is in a Toyota.
Well, that's it for Bubba Wallace. The penalties should ban him for 2 races at least. What an ass.
Somehow I doubt he will get penalized, even though he should. Looked like he pushed the official too. But he is the golden boy. I wonder if he will claim racism like with the garage door handle rope incident.
Wallace just ilustrating what a class act he is... What a f*cking punk ! Pretty easy to get physical with one of the smallest guys on the track, too bad Larson didnt have the presence of mind to slam that helmet in his hand upside wallace head.... but he woudnt.
Now will NASCAR penalize the only black driver for high speed on track retaliation... Highly doubtful.
Did he care that took out a team mate thats in the playoffs ... nope!
Go Woke (putting diversity ahead of talent) Go Broke. If they don`t fine him the new 100k minimum then no one should have to pay.
