I love MB and am looking to relocate there myself. Surfside and Garden City would be very good choices if you don't want a long commute. My husband and I had a condo in Surfside for many years. That stretch of hwy between Surfside and before you start getting "into" Myrtle Beach proper is not usually that crowded and an easy drive even during the thickest of tourist seasons. You drive right into the entrance of the old Air Force Base. Hope this helps.

Yes, thanks. We bought in Surfside several months ago. Love it here.
I finally got to read through all the posts on this thread and was thrilled to learn that you found a house you love in Surfside. I find myself on my computer everyday reading all that I can about moving down there and all of peoples input and opinions. Everything you read gives you much to think about and keep in your head to "mush" around. I hope that you have had that beautiful morning to walk out on the beach and catch a glimpse of that magestic eagle taking off in flight. Oh how I envy you right now. Congratulations and best wishes to your new life. )

Thanks for your good wishes. Much appreciated. I haven't seen any eagles yet, but have seen a lot of turtles and some kind of really huge blue heron bird flew into the lake in my back yard the other day. I know what you mean about reading everything about moving here. I did exactly the same thing. I was obsessed! Now that I'm here, I still really enjoy reading everyone's comments about things, especially the frequent posters, who know the area so well and are so helpful to all who ask questions. I sort of lurk in the background on here and try to absorb all of the information. I hardly ever write anything, because I don't have much to add at this point, being so new to the area. Plus, at this point, even though we bought our house a couple months ago, I just got back here from NJ, 2 weeks ago, and am surrounded by boxes and trying to unpack and get settled. I can't fit my cars in my garage for all the boxes! (Apparently, I never threw anything away! Not sure how I accumulated so much stuff!) I hope things work out well for you, too, and again, I thank you for your good thoughts for me.
