I remember so many of the names posted but can't place where some of them were. I usually went to the clubs that had live rock. I used to go to Big Daddy's on Bird Rd in the early 80's, Agora Ballroom, Level 3. There was a place in Hollywood that had live rock bands that used to serve me before I was legal. I think it had the word "rock" in the name. I saw Edgar Winter at the Crown Rockin' Lounge in Kendall. I think Pat Travers played there too but it may have been somewhere else. How about Rollo's? I saw a band there that played Robin Trower's "Day of the Eagle" and 20 years later found out the drummer is now my friend's husband.

Thanks for bringing back such great memories for me...all of these clubs were great and I loved Faces in the Grove, Uncle Charlie's, Scaramouche, The Mutiny, The Copa in Lauderdale and the Marlin Beach Hotel in Lauderdale too (the Sunday Tea Dance was outrageous). Alexandre was a dinner club and I used to sing there... and Gloria Estefan and all artist and wannabe's would frequent. It was a huge hangout for the Cocaine Cowboy elite, the heavy players and the Maitre'D at the door made hundred of thousands of dollars a year in tips to get in alone. There used to be a gay dinner club in Coconut Grove called The Candlelight. It had a piano player by the name of Walter - he was a show and the supper club was really good. What a great time around that piano! No one mentioned the Warehouse on 8th Street. I went there often, a gay bar that had it going on with incredible music and the dancing would go on until the wee hours. From what I can remember...its kind of a miracle that I actually survived it! What great memories and good times were had in Miami. Even the jazz scene was fabulous with Tobacco Road and the Taurus Restaurant and other venues in Coconut Grove playing all kinds of music. Thats when Miami was MIAMI!

27 Birds!

Do you remember the fanzine "Suburban Relapse" or the Rockin Robin in Ft Lauderdale (or Wilton Manors?)

We also hung out at Flynns Ocean 71 on 71st St.

There was another and it was in that same area as Daphne's, up on the top floor, maybe in a Holiday Inn, on 36th St., kind of at LeJeune and 36th St.? It gets kind of fuzzy, being so many years ago!
It was called the Crossway Airport Inn. When I was attending the University of Miami in the mid-70s, a group of us would regularly go there to see the Impact of Brass on Friday or Saturday nights, a local band that I believe got it's start at UM in the late 1960s. Here's a link to a photo of the them performing at the Crossway Airport Inn, as well as an exterior photo of the place.

It was a giant club with bigger and better everything. G Willlikers in Pompano Beach was small but was packed after 2am(closed at 4am)....waiting for your car was often the best part of night and the best time to meet girls.
Another club I would that didn't close until 5am was Lakeside on Glades RD. It was actually in a Holiday Inn but had a cool Boca crowd. My rankings for Fort Lauderdale '85 to '90 would be:
1. Backstreets
2. G Willikers
3. Pizazz
4. Confettis
5. Lakeside
Ah Backstreets ! The Gay club all the straight people loved for some reason !
(All the best acts appeared there back in the 80's) and I frequented the other two highlighted.

Other clubs in Miami would include Parallel Bar & Fire and Ice and you would dress up !

What was the name of the lesbian bar in South Miami right on US 1?

The best memories were going to the Brasserie (late 70's) before I should have been able to get in. Loved those fake ID's we use to get that you ordered from the back of a magazine! Those bouncers knew they were bogus, but thankfully, they let me, and others in! I spent years going in there and had the best times of my life there.

It's funny, I can't remember much at my age, like yesterday's breakfast, but I sure can remember the words from all those disco songs.

I also remember people from there...there was a skinny guy named Billy that had a brown afro who would always dance with his gf. I think he also did some DJ work there. There were 2 twins, I think Donnie and Ronnie. I use to dance with a guy named Louie. One of the best places ever. My disco days are over, but I still love listening to disco!!!!
