There was the Button and the Button South. We practically lived at the Button South but only because we knew some of the bouncers and they would let us in even though we were way underage. Saw a lot of cool bands there though and a lot of bad ones although at the time we probably thought they were good as well.

In high school in Broward, we used to go to The Copa a lot, Backstreets occasionally. The gay clubs tended to let us in without carding us. We went as a group (girls and guys) and always had a blast.
In college, we expanded to Dade, Fire & Ice, The Kitchen, shows at the Cameo. NEVER liked the Kitchen Club, Fire & Ice was ok at best -- too many "broach queens" for my taste. Turns out my wife was one of those! But she turned out ok anyway. lol

No I don't sorry. When were they around? My time hanging out at the Button South was probably around 1987 to maybe 1992?

Someone - I don't know if they were the original Button owners - tried to resurrect the concept further north in Boynton Beach not that long ago (maybe 6 or 7 years back) They leased an old restaurant on Federal in the northern end of Boynton and christened it "The Button North" It had some local and national bands come through but it never caught on. It wasn't there long.

There were a whole bunch of clubs back then, The Candy Store, The Button, etc. All the local hair metal bands would play there. The only one left from that original era even back into the early 60's is the Elbo Room. I don't think any remain from that era nowadays.

The Button and Button South were owned and operated by Art Stock, neither were in Hialeah on 103rd st. where the Agora Ballroom was.

Sorry I haven't been around lately, been busy planning a charity event for Nile Rodgers ( Chic band leader,Madonna,Diana Ross,Duran Duran producer ) with Santa Esmeralda performing.

Wish I could give you more details about the event on here, but they'd say I would be spamming and kick me out! lol

I'll be back soon to share a few photos of some of the clubs mentioned on here!

Before I joined the service in '77, I used to frequent a club on LeJeune Rd...hmmm...I think it was called "The Brasserie"...or something like that.
When I returned to Miami some 20 plus years, it was a big nothing...just an empty space by the airport with the 836 on top...close to Grapeland Park.
As far as the hot spots from back in the day, I'll leave it to the experts.
My .02 cents.

How about Whistlers in the Cutler Ridge Mall? What about Hooligens on US 1 near UM. Then there was Norm's Hide Out Sports lounge near BMW South and Big Daddy's
