Remember we used to have the Orange Bowl parade? Now both the stadium and the tradition are gone.

When is the last time you sat down to watch a parade on television? That's why there's no more Orange Bowl Parade. It lost it's tv contract, and with it the money that was used to pay for the floats and other aspects of the parade itself.

Pearl lived at the end of my street, and I remember all those shops.. you left out Ben Franklins 5 and Dime across Bird, the hobby shop next to Pearls and Paks. A guy I went to school with worked at Luthers and eventually bought it from him. I preferred the Patio too.. my buddy Shanes Dad owned it. He had the first Honda 750 at Southwest. No Purple Cow? We would get rock candy and Turkish taffy at WT Grants and then go into the Concord to watch movies. Got my trumpet at Carrols Music there too. Guaranteed your folks knew my Mom.. Dad was South Miami Detective and got his suits dry cleaned at your folks place. Her name was Mickey.
I grew up on 39th Street and 94th Ave. My Mom was a car hop at Pizza Patio. I was practically raised there. My next door neighbor accidentally ran through the sliding glass door of the Farm Stores on the corner of 94th Ave and Bird Road and I can't drive down Bird Road and not remember. My Uncle's used to take me up to Bird Bowl all the time to bowl as a kid. It's nice to get reminded of all these childhood memories.

Uh, every Thanksgiving morning while visiting my sister's family in Orlando, and every New Year's Day at home while watching the Rose Bowl Parade. I actually tape two different networks and later review the tape of the one I didn't watch live.

That Pasadena parade is fantastic. The Orange Bowl Parade in its heyday wasn't significantly below. I really looked forward to it, whether I was attending in person or watching on TV.

Let's not pretend the absence is anything but another sad diminishing aspect to this community. The Orange Bowl halftime show is also only a shell of its former self.

Obviously the demographics have changed and the new generations don't want to accept that anything could have been superior decades ago. After all, change is glorious and change is grand, and anyone who offers a counter opinion is merely afraid of change. Our new patched stadium will be greater than anything this community has ever seen, the Dolphins motion sickness logo and dull color scheme are a major advancement, and so forth. New Year's Eve doesn't need that old parade when more clubs can be open.

They passed away along Torito, the Falls almost went broke during the 90's. It was a luscious place during those years 80's. A very good neighbourhood.

The Falls had water everywhere, it was a unique shopping center. The El Torito was quite fancy looking, and the Bloomindales had a pretty luxurious looking interior when it opened. You never saw another place like the Falls but I am unsure what it looks like now.

Yes, El Torito, and it was not expensive at all, gorgeous waitresses and it was a novelty since there were no mexican restaurants in Miami. Shops were expensive, designer clothing. I remember the big wooden Indian.
