Second Fish & Game commissioner rips lawmakers for injecting politics into F&G decisions | The Spokesman-Review

Quote:
“After several meetings with legislative leadership, it became abundantly clear that they wanted the commission to do their dirty work for them by changing commission policy,” Doerr said in his statement. “The commission did not change policy due to the overwhelming input of the sportsmen of Idaho to maintain the current policy. The legislators were not happy and it is unfortunate their influence impacted the governor’s decision on commission reappointments.”

He added, “The personal, political and financial gain offered by special interests must be intoxicating for those in leadership in the Idaho Legislature, because they continually ignore the will of the majority of their constituents, in this case, the sportsmen of Idaho.” Barker’s full story, which ran in Saturday’s Tribune, is online here.

Default Cat Lovers Be Aware

A new, bad bug from a cat in Clark County. If you are thinking of visiting or camping there, please take precautions with your animals. Apparently fleas can infect humans.

We used to live in Flagstaff and it seems like the med center there gets a case or two of Bubonic Plague every year. Prairie dogs are a big harborer of infected fleas. We had a prairie dog town on our land and it might be the only time I was somewhat grateful for the rattlesnakes that prey on them.

It's probably tourists who need the warning. I hope some gas stations post this.

IDK for all the years I was living elsewhere, but I don't remember this being in ID before, but I could be very wrong.
Nothing happens in Clark County, it's so small. That was part of my surprise.

Looks like there were Idahoans infected with it back in the 90's and Plague was found last year in ground squirrels in Kuna.

Ground squirrels down here went through a major siege of the plague around 18 years ago. Since it's believed to be cyclical, I'm not surprised it has returned.
