I miss Sage's moderation and Sage. He's a good guy, even if he is "right of Rush".

Homegrown musical

Homegrown musical ‘Idaho!’ opens in Las Vegas with one eye on Broadway

Quote:
As Lenz said in a group email with those who visited the state, “Heartwarming! That growth is a good omen, methinks!” It’s also a reminder that you should never, ever sell Idaho short. The musical is just opening, but the state is a winner.

We have established, long-standing rules for this news thread. It's just to post the news. Commentary is very limited. If there is a topic that needs discussion or debate, you are supposed to create a new thread and do it there. No one wants to control what others have to say. It just needs to be done in the right place. The news thread is NOT the place for it. In the absence of Sage, we are required to self-regulate in order to maintain the quality we have grown accustomed to on this forum.

The Idaho Department of Labor reported Thursday that the Gem State's Hispanic population has increased by more than 15 percent since the 2010 census, growing 2.9 percent between mid-2014 and mid-2016. Hispanics now account for approximately 12 percent of the state's population.

Canyon County saw the largest increase in Hispanics residents between mid-2014 and mid-2015, increasing by 1,501 persons or 3 percent. Ada County's Hispanic population grew by 1,481 people or 4.5 percent.

Idaho's Asian population showed the largest percentage increase at 4.8 percent, but numerically accounted for 1,211 people. Meanwhile, people who selected the category of "Two or More Races" increased 4.6 percent, an additional 1,687 people in 2015.

Idaho jobs, housing and population are booming: Gov. Otter

Quote:
A five-year public education plan

The good news is that we are focused like never before on Idaho history improving our K–12 school system statewide. We are implementing a five-year plan for improvements that run the gamut from better, more performance-driven pay for educators and more preparation time and professional development opportunities for teachers to more local accountability, more and better use of classroom technology, and enhanced post-secondary counseling for students and parents.
