it was more a get even position anyway.....how do you eliminate something by creating something that fosters and promotes exactly what you claim to be getting rid of

"DEI has been plaguing colleges and universities across the country, prioritizing skin color over merit."

"the university is closing its “Office of the Chief Diversity Officer,” eliminating “DEI positions and administrative appointments,” and halting “DEI-focused contracts with outside vendors” in order to comply with the Florida Board of Governance’s regulation regarding prohibited expenditures."

"Last week, Florida’s Board of Governors voted to ban state spending on DEI programs across all public universities in the state, defining DEI as “any program, campus activity, or policy that classifies individuals on the basis of race, color, sex, national origin, gender identity, or sexual orientation and promotes differential or preferential treatment of individuals on the basis of such classification.”"

It’s interesting that they don’t get rid of legacies. If you have a relative that attended the university when it was segregated, you can get in over other more qualified applicants. The same skin color over merit argument.

University of Florida FIRES all 28 of its DEI employees after DeSantis law bans schools from using state money for diversity, equity and inclusion

”The university also announced how the Office of the Chief Financial Officer will now reallocate roughly $5 million in funds previously reserved for DEI into a 'faculty recruitment fund to be administered by the Office of the Provost'.”

Oh good. Now college-going high school students will now know, without any doubt at all, that Florida will not officially recognize that different cultures have different needs. Welcome to the great white evangelical state-funded university system of the free state of floridah!

MAGA nut jobs will never respond to your well made point…goes against their narrative. Since Rhonda Santis was embarrassed off the campaign stage they’ve been desperate for a win. Notice how the same well known far right posters on C-D never mention Rhonda’s disastrous failed attempt at the Republican nomination while jet setting on Florida taxpayer dime.

Side note: I just passed by Palm Beach International Airport 20 minutes ago and there is a literal MAGA parade going on as we speak for their orange god tRump who was seen flying out of PBIA…it literally happens 2-3 times a week here in West Palm Beach - You’d think these mouth breathers would be used to it by now…it’s apparent many don’t have much to do on a Saturday.

I don't see the need, but then maybe I'm just blind. Could you please tell us examples of what these different needs are so that I may be enlightened?

And what needs are those? The need to be special? The need to receive preferential treatment? What?

There have always been departments for international students. Nobody has a problem with that.
