Well it depends on the University (& if you get accepted) but most Uni's you get your own room, but you have to share a kitched/communal area with a few others. I don't know what is so awful about that...

University is full of drunks full stop! Students go out & get pi**ed every night, you will really be isolating yourself if you go to uni with that mindset!!

At least in the US, anti-alcohol is associated more with Protestanism than Catholicism. Know someone who went to a college that was run by Lutherans which was totally dry. I was told in the college dorm not to smoke weed in the dorms, smoke in the woods instead.

Not every night. There was a saying, if "you party on Thursday, you need more problem sets". Work hard, play hard.

You have obviously never seen students in the UK

All bars have student discount drinks every night to encourage it too...

If you live on your own, you will be missing out on one of the best life experiences available... what I would do to be able to go back to my first year in halls!

Yes there is a lot of alcohol, and I am among one of these 'drunks' that you speak of But nobody will force you to drink (not so true)

Plenty of people in university choose not to drink. Young people today are actually drinking less than their parents were. You just need to find other like-minded people.

After two years of being completely healthy I've now caught a cold for the second time in a month. I was fine going running in 2°C drizzle or skiing in -17°C deep freeze all winter but now with 10°C and sunshine every other breeze is lethal. Apparently I'm a cold lover even at a cellular level.
