No wonder you want to over-correct this and move to Brisbane, that weather would drive me nuts after 10 days as well!

I sympathise for you regarding the crap forecast Chester, but it really isn't anything on Buxton, last JUNE.

We had highs averaging 15°C for two weeks, with lows as cold as 2 or 3°C!!!!

"That weather" hasn't happened yet - it's a forecast. Not at all reliable beyond the 5-day mark, either. Let's see what has actually happened by month's end.

I am going to be in Nelson for 3 days shortly - the longrange forecasts were several times promising me 3 days of showers and other variants - now at short range it's finally settled on 3 fine days!

You should be aware - if you read CNZ's endless complaints - that his basic problem is that the climate is far too cool for him. It is completely irrational (and of course a statistical nonsense) to then pretend that all anomalies in his current climate should be on the "plus" side of the register! The current greater occurrence of colder easterly flows onto Ch'ch and the like is analogous to Sydney's higher incidence of cloudy showery weather this year, and is related to that.

I don't know if Brisbane would necessarily be "over-correcting" but my preference would be for pretty much anywhere on the East Coast between Wollongong and Brisbane. Your town looks quite nice, actually.

I guess my choice of climate would depend on my occupation. Any physically intense would certainly favour the cooler climates. But if I had a 9-5 desk job I would probably prefer the likes of Brisbane so that I could rely on good beach weather after work most of the year.

Yikes! Bet you're glad to have left (or have you moved back now?).

The UK in general has an awful climate, although London looks nice during summer. The long daylight would compensate for the cloudiness to some extent and the can get quite warm during the summer months.

You don't think the MetService should give a ten day forecast? It probably isn't overly reliable but it does seem in keeping with the general trend over the last couple of months.

After nine months of waiting for summer I'd hate to be disappointed. But I think you mentioned before there was one year in which a very cold and gloomy Spring was followed by a very warm and sunny summer, so that gives me hope.

Yes, the current pattern must break sometime. A ten-day forecast is OK to have and probably couldn't be dropped because of demand, but with current levels of computer power and a difficult region (NZ) its limitations must be allowed for.
