You didn't get my idiom. British tax means Brits always go to places where they get gouged on prices because most are not travel savvy and choose to stay in places where Brits frequent, hence the increase in prices as opposed to staying in a predominantly Spanish area
Well I suppose so. But its so worth it because there is a massive disparity between Spanish accomodation and British accomodation. It is basically like a slum.

You get a lot of big cruise ships (up to 2000 people) with British tourists on them go to Vigo - there's not much for them to do there except walk around wondering why the ship has brought them there and talk about how Lisbon the day before was much more interesting, but it's the best deep-water Atlantic port Spain has. It was funny going down by the harbour in mid-morning watching the café owners put the prices up on the boards by 20-30%, only to put them back down again at about six o'clock when the ships had gone

Lol! In Puerto Rico, the independent street vendors charge tourists higher prices in Old San Juan, but secretly give you a discount if you are "boricua" But, it's the same the world over.

Of course Americans do the same as well in Mexico, but not so much other countries (probably because there are so few Americans everywhere else)

Owen, Spanish accomodation is not a slum, lol. Do you think middle class tourists from Madrid go to a slum when they go to vacation in Valencia or Málaga? Come on, now.
I couldn't wait to leave home when I was younger! Yes it was a struggle having to pay for everything (rather than the tiny amount I paid my parents as 'keep'!) but it was worth it to have the freedom to do whatever I pleased, come & go as I pleased & have anyone round (& stay the night too) if I wanted
I am scratching at the walls trying to get out of my parents house, but I can't until I have a stable income. Since I graduated college, I have to pay them $200/month rent. I am just dreaming of having my own little apartment. Nothing fancy, just want to be on my own. The day will come eventually...
