The new weather station has arrived today, going to try and set it all up correctly!

The post for mounting the weather station is concreted in but still needs to set fully before it can all be installed.

The anemometer will be going on the roof for proper exposure to the wind. Unlike for most of you yanks in the US with your flat matchstick type houses, we here have a big old three story stone house and getting the wind thing on there will be an effort and a half.

This kit also includes a rain gauge and ability to show the rainfall rate so that's cool cos I love it when it pisses it down very hard and like to see what the rainfall rate can reach.

Cool! It sounds like a handy device. I use overflowing gutters as a measure of heavy rain, usually 1 or 2 times a year.

What is your rainfall, and how many days a year?

8th consecutive day of rain/showery periods . Nearly 200mm for the month so far with torrential/heavy falls at times. Not much sun too

In Buxton we average 50" per year. From my measurements/records so far I'd say some form of precipitation (though on many days hardly noticable) occurs on 1 in 2 days in the year incl. days with trace amounts. Rain 1.0mm or more, somewhat less.

Temperatures were expected to reach 85F with no/little cloud, but fortunately unexpected clouds came rolling in. Temps are sitting at about 80 right now, which combined with a gentle breeze made being outside a pleasure.

9pm now and still a lot of blue sky about. If I remember rightly from last year it won't be properly dark at this time until about August 1st

We have had more hours of sunshine in the first two days of May here this year than in the first TEN days of last May. Woooo.
