Windy and 15 in Cincinnati. I've also been out there when it was -2 as well but since I was only out there for like 1 second, couldn't tell u how it felt (also the temps rose fast, believe it topped out near 40 that day) . But 15 and windy is like a frozen hell. Not a good feeling at all. Of course many of u guys trump my lowest but I lived in the south for over a decade, I don't do cold too well......

Coldest minimum - 3C (37.4F) in July 2007 which also happened to be the lowest of any month since 1986. The westerly wind blowing at the time made it feel much colder. All-time record is 2.1C (35.7F) set in June 1932.

Lowest maximum - 11.9C (53.4F) in August 2008. Record low of 7.7C (45.8F) goes to that of July 1868. Over the last 30 years only 2 years has recorded maximums less than 10 degrees C (50F) being in July 1983 (9.9C/49.8F) and also of the same month in 1984 (9.6C/49.2F). For the latter, it were during an particularly severe cold outbreak with snow reported falling to low levels in many places.

The coldest I've ever been in was -20F in Logan, UT where I went to college. Conicidentaly, I moved to Phoenix directly after where it gets to 120F in the summer. Talk about a dramatic 140 degree difference!

Have to agree there. I bought a double layered jacket in Switzerland several years ago which sits somewhat redundant in our cupboard! I did wear it out once last June and cooked within minutes....!

Probably handy for a snow trip though (would love to head to the Southern Alps in the next year) so will hold onto it

Yes, it's certainly mild on the coast but factoring in the cold and dry westerly wind (when it does blow) - can make it feel much colder. As someone who catches the bus to work at 5am - it's no easy feat, in fact I all but have to wear the heater.

The statistics I quoted comes from the "city" site (Observatory Hill). Observatory Hill has never recorded a frost but western suburbs certainly have with readings as low as -7 (19.4F) and in more recent years -5.2C (22.6F).

The airport has recorded a below zero minimum once, back in July 1943, when -0.1C (31.8F). Other instances of "near zero" occurred in 1968 (0.1C/32.1F); 1970 (0.6C/33F); 1971 (0.8C/33.4F) and 1986 (0.8C/33.4F).
