Looks like the Buffalo-Niagara area, Erie area, and the areas north of Kingston, ON (ex Sharbot Lake) are top contenders.

Ottawa airport recorded 46cm, which is the 2nd biggest single day snowfall (biggest is 51cm). From satellite images, it looks like Ottawa got more snow since that update, and will continue to get more so that record is within reach. Kingston, Sharbot Lake, Buffalo-Niagara and Erie areas have also gotten additional snow.

I wouldn't be surprised if the 50cm for St Catharines was already record breaking since they usually don't get that much.
edit: previous record for 1-day snowfall for St Catharines was 46.8cm on Feb 28, 1984. Previous record for January 1-day snowfall was 30.0 cm on Jan 3, 1996.

BTW.. that 25 inch report from Ohio was near Lake Erie... They were part of the "pivot band.."
actually the heart of the old cold at all levels -

while it's part of this storm I wonder how much was from Lake Effect. Moisture was moving from the south from about 4pm to about 4am so that wasn't Lake effect and they had gotten over a foot at that point...when the Pivot started after 4am things ramped up then they were getting the north flow off the lake and another foot fell.

Also... Youngstown Airport got 11.9", they are 50 minutes south of there.

I got another 3.1 inches in snow showers yesterday with a liquid equivalent of 0.17 in. So that’s 18.2 to 1 snow to liquid ratio; it’s very light and powdery. We have 6 inches on the ground on average, but some snow drifts are over a foot deep.

It’s always so much easier to melt the snow in my rain gauge when it is light and powdery like that.

So my total for this storm comes to 7.2 in.

I've also seen 55cm (22 inches) for Oshawa. Are there good sources for a more complete source of snowfalls for Ontario and Quebec? Seems like the rural areas stretching from north of Oshawa to north of Kingston could've all gotten large totals.
