Not really. That's only reserved for the Deep South and Southwest. Below average here in August means comfortable temps during the day and cool temps at night

These summertime Canadian air masses usually bring crystal blue skies and low humidity which has been the case for the last few days

Do those yellows depict slightly above average temperatures Chicagogeorge? If so is it possible that temperatures might be close to average at least for the next week or so for parts of the Midwest?

This is 15 days out. GFS runs change a lot. It will probably be cool but where exactly in the Midwest will see the coolest anomalies is to be determined

It wasn't even tropical. Or a front. Crazy.
Yeah I used a pen and paper while I was measuring to keep up. Weighing may be a good idea to avoid the risk of spilling.

This is the explanation NWS LCH had for the event.

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Lake Charles LA
406 PM CDT Tue Jul 30 2019

.SYNOPSIS...
The cluster of storms that brought heavy rainfall and flash
flooding to parts of cntl LA earlier today continues to propagate
west-southwest into SE TX this aftn. This activity is associated
with an impulse aloft traveling within northeastern flow around
the periphery of a large high pres system centered over nrn NM,
and a trough over the SE CONUS. Significant divergence aloft and
strong instability, especially in the airmass ahead of the storm
cluster, has helped to sustain updrafts and storm strength.

Record lows are outpacing record highs in the U.S and another record low happened in MN yesterday.

Panorama of temps this morning August 1, 2019. Feels like 37° on Mt Washington. Nice fall-like 40s in WI, MI, Ontario. Still warm 70s along the coasts.

Bridgeport,CT 70° but 60s in the burbs here and it feels nice! I don't mind 60s in the morning right now! As long as it stays under 80 I'm fine in summer.

See those 57's in SouthWest NY? I'm keen to that area now since visiting my sister there in September 2 yrs ago. Couldn't believe how much colder they are vs surrounding areas.

A sliver of northeast Kansas had quite the rainfall over the last day. People living southwest of Lawrence reported nearly a foot of rain.

I'm at Emerald Isle, NC this week, and right now there are thunderstorms about five miles away. It's annoying because I don't get to experience the thunderstorm but I also don't feel safe out on the beach. And the storms are pretty stagnant, too.
