Cold air is still hanging on up here...snow unexpectedly developed again tonight, and has dropped another inch. There's about ten inches on the ground now :O
Seattle should be in the 40s Friday and Saturday. Hopefully that will melt most of the remaining snow. Still way below average though.
Northern California is set to get one of its biggest storms of the year on an already waterlogged region. This is a "warm system" as the moisture is coming from Hawaii so it will raise snow levels, they call these systems "Pineapple Express". That means that a lot of snow in the lower elevations will melt and cause even more flooding.
Heavy rain in the middle of the night and moderate rain most of day yesterday did a number on the 2" snowfall we had. today nice day 36f when I took this pic and now sunny and 6C (43F) with forecast high of 40F lol. Already past that.
the level of cold that Canada gets is just unimaginable to me. Ugh, I have no idea how anyone lives there except on that tiny sliver around Vancouver. It is a giant ice box in winter.
Narrow swath of snow coming. I think Accu is too far north with it but with the way this season is going I bet you Atlantic City gets in on the snow section.
The pattern this weekend. Interesting. Not amplified. (zonal across southern half) but that Right axis off the East coast could work in a coastal storm favor!
Most interesting pattern is for the Northwestern U.S
32F this morning, right now 59F under mostly sunny skies. High is supposed to be 66 but not sure we're going to make it. Dewpoint is 28F, that's why it was so cold this morning and why the air is warming up so quickly. Low in upper 40's tonight and then high of 75 tomorrow. Southwest wind from the Desert and then our first heatwave. High of 88 with low of 56 on Friday, strong winds out of Chihuahuan Desert lowering humidity, dewpoint into 20's. Will probably be a record high and very dry to boot. Then cold front through. Highs in mid 70's Saturday, low 70's Sunday, then mid 50's with lows in the lower 40's Monday and rain. The wild ride continues.
