I know the summer of 2009 was an El Nino summer, and it was one of our hottest on record

Will this dread ever end? They keep lowering the forecast for tomorrow and Thursdays forecast. And besides those two days, we are looking at abysmal highs in 30s and 40s and lows below freezing. No more bitter cold but no warmth either. When will we see flowers and leaves again? Geez! Last April had great spring foliage when I visited, I am hoping it doesn't take til May to get that this spring. I am perplexed on how we had a perfect average March and such a crappy below average April with no end in sight.

Everything always averages out, so I guess your concern is legit. if we had all those torching hot well above normal months, years and seasons; does that mean we get the other end of the extreme to average it out? and then we can just call it normal eventually when patterns are relaxed? Few interesting patterns been catching my eye especially past 4yrs. Wonder if that low solar output is taking affect. ?

Don't forget.. It can "switch" easily. Seen it time and time again. Hang in there.

You're not alone...

February had 11 days over 49°. Tied for most.
March had 6 days only. 8th least.
March and April combined have 9 days above 49° so far (RE-READ THAT)

For the period of March 1st to April 10th, only 1 year had less number of days above 49°F here

This hasn't happened since 1975. Only 1956 had less. So yes... this is the coldest I ever experienced as far as High temps go. Impressive.

So... coming up per Euro12z model..

Saturday morning map.. You have a warm Ridge in the West. Hot Ridge in the East, but look what looms in the center of the country. "The Bowling Ball". An Upper Low barreling across. A trough digging down to Texas. Guess what that does?? It moves east and disturbs the Ridge. Crushes it.

And here is Tuesday Next week. So the warmth wont last. Another digging trough in the East with a very cold pool of air above 5000' which will prevent the surface from warming up again. Incredible. Only the sun can warm up the surface but even the sun is on dim mode lately.

Looks like I'll have another weekend of skiing, before the season comes to a close!
