Nice. Looks like you'll be able to finally use the Ski rack.

4000' forecast in Northern Idaho. Cool pass name. Looks like 1-2 feet forecasted here next couple days.

I don't follow or have time to post Western U.S weather much so its nice to see posts from out there from you, Botev, Rpvan, nei, and others.

2-15cm of snow fell across Metro Vancouver last night. Temps are forecast to hit 6C this afternoon, so it should be gone by this evening.

Models are still showing Arctic air hitting us on Sunday and persisting for a couple days.

Nothing here, just drizzle. It's even supposed to get sunny in the afternoon. But Vancouver is not supposed to drop below -3C next week which is nothing that unusual.

TWC getting some flack for putting out a snow total and forecast map 4 days before. lol

So this snowstorm started showing up just yesterday on the models. Now all of them have this weekend potential.

NYC could be going from 60s to snowstorm to 60s in matter of 5 days.

Also... this would finally put DC over Atlanta for the season.

While Accuweather has this only.. I need Senario #1!

2pm. It was a nice day while it lasted. Sunny all morning and temps in low 40s. Cloudied over thanks to a shortwave over the Great Lakes. Clouds moving in from the West. Still sunny East of me.

All above normal

Caribou: 30°
Burlington: 38°

Philly: 50°
Hartford: 51°
Richmond: 56°

Environment Canada is predicting -8C on Sunday night followed by -7C on Monday night. The Weather Network is predicting -10C on both nights.
Latest GFS run agrees...

Wanna see what goes into forecasting and model results??

A still image then a loop to see it in action... Focusing on the potential snowstorm DC to Boston this weekend.

This is a current map happening right now. Keeping it simple.. Yellows, Oranges and reds are deep pockets energy at the upper levels.

#1. Focus on what's currently over southern Alaska...see that yellow area? Watch it on the loop below.. Follow it. THAT is the main ingredient if this snowstorm is going to happen in 3 days.

#2. Forget that piece. It ejects eastward ahead of #1.

#3. THAT is also a needed piece of energy to get this storm to happen.
If #3 goes just ahead of #1 like models are showing, its a snowstorm. If #3 is held back than its nothing but a weak wave and there wont be much moisture north of Virginia.

What if its too fast? What if it doesn't happen? What if #1 is east or north more over the U.S? What if its stronger? weaker?

There's so much that has to happen you can see why there's always "forecast busts"...

What's amazing to me still is that these models can predict the idea of this happening even with this energy that far away but the details wont be known till within 24-36hrs

Here's the loop now till Sunday morning.. Watch #1.

Play the loop using the slider back and forth to see for yourself. Lot's of moving pieces when it comes to storms. Lastly... lets see if you pick up on that strong SER too while you're starring at the loop.
