The general public can’t explain the difference between subtropical and tropical.
29 degrees, while cold, isn’t out of the ordinary for a subtropical climate.

This isn’t exactly normal though, the average first freeze is in late November, first 20’s even later. I believe I read somewhere that this is the first time in over 40 years that the temp will drop so low (mid 20’s) this early.
It is so f-ing cold here right now. It's 9° right now, I had an outdoor fire and couldn't stand it so I went in for the night. We got about a half inch of lake effect today. Wow, it takes alot to get me inside.

Only 23 now; seems like the worst of the cold is further west. You’re good at getting yourself out in the cold?

I'm up in northwestern PA this weekend at my camp hunting, and it's often this cold in December here. But for early November, it's a bit extreme especially after walking in the woods all day. Started a fire to cook tonight but now with the sun down, it's too much - love it but little too cool.
21°F outside at 10pm here. Wood stove going keeping the inside warm.
Here are the actual Record Lows for tomorrows date. Lets see who breaks.
Bridgeport already at 26 at 10pm so it might happen there.
Binghamton has to beat 16F.......Ummm, they are at 16° right now. lmao.
Hartford will be tough to beat 12F
Philly has to beat 21F and already at 27F
Islip is going to beat
Pretty much a lot of stations already near record lows and there's still all night to go.

Most people don't use subtropical to refer the Cfa Koppen climate, but for climates with milder winters. Still, any sensible use of subtropical would allow for some 20s. 29°F at 8 pm in November is rare here, let alone in NYC.
Down to 21°F here, 11°F at sunrise. Might not break a record; record low for Nov 11 here is 11°F.

Jeez, I feel sorry for the cold you guys are dealing with, I couldn't do it.
Here, it's currently 23.3°C with a dewpoint of 4.4°C at 10pm Mountain Time; and we are supposed to drop to 14.4°C tonight, which will be 1.1°C above average

I felt sorry for you most of the summer seeing your temperatures that looked so high at first glance I thought they were a typo . Colder in °F here than in °C there
