When I say exceptional I mean an event like the April event I mentioned, or any measurable snow there in April for that matter, In essence an event that happens in less than 1 in 30 years. A high in the mid-40's here would be "exceptional" a high around 50F-51F, despite being unusual, would not.
Got it but this snowstorm is just that, (1 in 30) so not sure if we are both agreeing that it IS exceptional or we're just confusing our posts. lol

Raleigh sees snow but not 4"+ snowstorms after March 9th. (only 7 of 130 yrs have) 1915, 1934, 1983, 1940, 1926, 1914, 1971, 2017?

Imagine in 1914 & 1915 having back to back years with 6-14" after March 9th? Climate must of been changing back then too. 1912 was one of the warmest winters on record there.

7/130 is once every 18 years so not exceptional. You're also kind of nitpicking with the "After March 9th" thing but whatever.

It is exceptional to see that much snow in mid march.... twist how you want but it is... notice how most happened in a 30 year period form 1910-1940.

AJ trying to downplay it but not working. Stats dont lie. And thats using both Raliegh sites. Wonder how it looks with the current site since 1944. 2 in last 73yrs. (Once every 36yrs)

This event happening March 10th so why not use after 9th stats to see how many times its happened??

Maybe if we could go back to 1700s and say it was more common then, I would agree. Lol

Maybe, I'm interested in why most happened 1910-1940; we even had an April snowfall in that period!

Still, nice to see below average weather in Georgia on that map. I do need a break after this garbo winter.

Very pleasant again today if nothing else. Pretty much what is to be expected this time of year, 75F right now with a Dew Point of 59F.

I'm kind of wanting some thunderstorms to be honest, there's only so much joy you can get out of mid 70's and partly cloudy.

Yeah. It's kind of boring.

That's why I can't stand spring. Too late in the season for good cold fronts, too early for thunderstorms. I swear April is sunny like 97% of the time here lol...

Anyways it's 81 F with a 59 F dew point here. Meh type of weather.
