True, but such fluctuations normally wouldn't be dynamic; in a natural climactic state, the jet-stream would always stay within zonal trends, allowing the Eastern US to have a naturally mild climate. During a Cold Epoch, such as the one we are in right now, the Jet Stream is more fickle, and can deviate to bring intense cold where it shouldn't be.

I love this blowtorch pattern. 27° here. So 20s again. So nice outside.

6:30am temps in the 20s and 30s out there and Freezing Fog has developed in areas.

Cool site that shows Fog Coverage, Fog Depth, Cloud Bases & Visibility http://www.star.nesdis.noaa.gov/smcd/opdb/aviation/fog.html

Visibility 1/4 mile in Central PA due to fog.

Clouds only at 200 feet over Hartford. All other areas are clear. So this shows well where the fog situation is.

Nice reminder... We all know what can happen in 4-6 weeks time even though it's a much different pattern overall this year, we really didn't have snow in the area. Maine was getting hammered though last year.

Wow! It's extremely foggy here this morning with lots of frost. Pretty cool! At least I don't have to be on the road.

Mostly sunny conditions are forecast thru Thursday with temps reaching the 70's by Wednesday. It looks like moisture will return by the end of the week. A good chance of thunderstorms Saturday with a frontal system.

Was looking at old photos.. will this happen in 1 month again?

Snow in Florida

Wind Chills in the single digits, teens and 20s down south. Snow to the South Carolina coast.

A Northwest flow with snow squalls. This was truly the beginning of what was coming. It really didn't kick in until couple weeks after this.
